The Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup semi finals will be played this Thursday at the National stadium here in Dar es salaam City.

Defending champions Tanzania Mainland who timed themselves perfectly, coming to life for the first time in the tournament to register an upset 1-0 victory against Malawi plays eleven time champions, Uganda Cranes in the last semi final at 1600hrs.

Earlier on at 1400hrs, one time cup winners Rwanda will clash with the region’s only representatives in the Africa Cup of Nations finals, Sudan.

The Cecafa General Secretary Nicholas Musonye has sounded a strong warning against time wasting by players who lay on the pitch unhurt but with the intentions to waste time.

Addressing the semi finalists on Wednesday evening at JB Belmont four stars Hotel, Musonye urged the referees to ignore such scenes by players whose intentions are to cool down the pressure or kill the playing rhythm.

Somali referee Wish Yabarow, Mark Sonko (Uganda), Brazan Mamati (Kenya) and Israel Mujuni from Tanzania will be in charge of the Sudan-Rwanda Game. The second clash has Bamlak Tessema (Ethiopia), Hassan Egueh (Djibouti), David Sagero (Kenya) and Munyemana Hudu as the selected officials.

The pre match meeting was also attended by Charles Masembe a member of the CAF referees committee. Masembe said the continental body was closely monitoring the performances of the referees in this tournament and assured teams of standard refereeing.

In case of a draw after normal time, Musonye said 30-minute extra time will be granted before spot kicks.

Tuskers, the sponsors of this tournament have put U$ 30.000 for the winner, U$ 20.000 and U$ 10.000 for the first and second runners up respectively.
