Goal :    Nils Petersen has struggled for playing time at Bayern Munich this season, but believes he has the quality to succeed with the Bundesliga record champions.

The 23-year-old arrived from Energie Cottbus for an estimated €2.5-3 million in the summer, and has been forced to accept a role as a substitute behind main striker Mario Gomez. However, he is not feeling discouraged, and explained that he joined the Bavarian giants in order to support his international ambitions.

“This is why you move to Bayern Munich,” he told Goal.com when asked about his prospects for representing his country. “Everyone knows that if you succeed here, then the national team is not far away.”

Petersen still has plenty of ambition, and is not content with merely remaining a substitute.

“I’d be lying if I were to say that I will forever be satisfied with my current situation. There is still potential for improvement, which I would like to use in the next year.”
