Bafé Gomis scored four goals against Dinamo Zagreb!
In the wake of the stir they caused in the Champions League, Lyon head to Lorient for day 17 of the Ligue 1.
Lyon were almost eliminated before kick-off of the last day of the group phase of the Champions League, but proceeded to give their hosts Dinamo Zagreb a phenomenal drubbing 7-1, while Real Madrid also defeated Ajax Amsterdam 3-0.
These two combined results allowed the RhĂ´ne club to qualify for the last sixteen of the competition for the ninth season consecutively.
Lyon therefore lie on three consecutive victories over all competitions, and currently occupy fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings with 29 points.
Rémi Garde made some changes to the team for the Zagreb clash, leaving Lisandro, Réveillères, Cris and Kallstrom on the bench, while Bastos was withdrawn.
And Gomis’ selection certainly paid dividends, with the striker who has been through a quiet spell since 15 October managing a four-goal haul!
The Gones’ coach will therefore have his full team at his disposal for the tricky away game that lies ahead.
In fact, Lorient remain unbeaten at home since the start of the season and will be intimidating opponents on home turf at the Stade Yves Allainmat, even if Christian Gourcuff’s men have just suffered a severe defeat at the hands of Montpellier 4-0.
This clash between an intimidating host and its euphoric guests who are currently performing well away from home promises to be exciting.
