Rwanda beat Sudan 2-1 in a hard-fought victory to secure a berth in the final of the Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup staged inĀ  Dar Es Salaam.

This means that they are the only unbeaten team in the competition with the current top scorer of the tournament being Rwanda’s Olivier Karekezi.

Amavubi showed urgency as soon as the match kicked off as they kept the Nile Crocodiles under pressure with constant counterattacks that saw their opponents make unforced errors.

In the 5th minute, Jean Claude Iranzi sent the ball into the back of the net for Rwanda as they dictated the pace until Ramdhan Agab pounced on a header to score a stunning overhead kick in the 67th minute, thereby equalising for Sudan.

With Sudan controlling most of the possession but lacking the cutting edge upfront, the Wasps opted to sit back and rely on the counterattacks in an effort to capitalise on on their opportunities.

Striker Olivier Karekezi brought his tally to five goals, stepping up to the occasion in the 77th minute as he scored from the acutest of angles, make it 2-1 to the Wasps.

Rwanda will meet the winner between Tanzania and Uganda in the final.
