Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic was stretchered off with a knee injury after a collision with Marco Streller during the Red Devils’ Champions League clash with Basel.

The Serbian international entered a midfield challenge with Streller in the 41st minute, but as they both fell to the ground in a tangle, Basel’s captain’s weight fell on to Vidic’s straightened right leg with his knee bending towards the ground.

The 30-year-old immediately signalled to the bench that he was in trouble, and it didn’t take the medical team long before a stretcher was called. He was replaced by Jonny Evans.

The injury follows on from Chicharito’s ankle injury, suffered against Aston Villa last Saturday, and Anderson being ruled out since the Champions League clash with Otelul Galati on November 2.
