Club Silk’s Allan Ntanda was jailed at Jinja Road Police Station over the weekend for issues relating to Jamaican dancehall singer Elephant Man’s money. Allan and his partner in business only identified as Norman were arrested after Mitch Ogwang and other service providers, who had provided services for the flopped concert dubbed ‘Let’s Get Physical with Elephant Man, filed complaints to police.
Allan was arrested and jailed at Jinja Road Police Station for two days and later released on police bond on Monday.
Well, Allan and Norman brought Jamaican dancehall singer Elephant Man, The Energy God, born O’Neil, to Uganda but failed to pay him the agreed amount. The parties reportedly deposited half of the agreed amount and accepted to clear Elephant Man’s balance upon his arrival in Kampala.
Unfortunately, Allan and Norman, failed to organize the show and contacted Balaam Barugahara, an expert in organizing concerts, but he was expensive for them because he asked for shs7m, which they vehemently refused, opting for cheap alternative of doing it themselves. They did not succeed and what followed was chaos.
Elephant Man, who had booked into Hotel African, was so Furious; the Jamaican dancehall singer, spoke Patwa for an hour while at Hotel African, to the amusement of most local artistes and journalists. He refused to perform at Katikati Restaurant due to what he claimed was confusion of the organizers.
Elephant Man was slated to perform at Lugogo Cricket oval, but because the organizers had not completed payment of the venue the event was relocated to Kati Kati Restaurant, at the last minute. Worse still, they reportedly failed to clear his balance.
The doors at Kati Kati opened at 6pm and the show time was 9pm; but it clocked the scheduled time and the organizers had not cleared Elephant Man’s balance; even the stage and the venue were not yet organized to suit the standards of an International singer like him.
After seeing all what was happening, Elephant Man told off the organizers that he was not able to work with such a disorganized group. He was driven to Hotel African by local artiste Peter Miles, where he even cleared hotel bills himself.
