Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has virtually replicated a campaign strategy that proved key to President J.A. Kufuor’s winning the presidency in 2000 and expects that come exactly a year away, the New Patriotic Party would be a thoroughly oiled machine to crush any opponent.

That is according to Samuel Abu Jinapor, spokesman for the NPP flagbearer, who told Radio Gold in Accra that with a year to go for the 2012 general elections, it appears the time was fast approaching.

“…As I’ve always stated, just as President Kufuor did after the 1996 elections when he went straight into political activity for almost four years continuous and not having any stoppage whatsoever during the four years after 1996, Nana Akufo-Addo has effectively done the same after the 2008 elections, he’s been involved in political activities for the past three years now. We’ve done a couple of things, we’ve put in place a lot of arrangements, we’ve made major structural adjustments in our party…once we nominate our vice presidential candidate, the NPP machinery for election 2012 would have been ready and robust and I find it as a train, anything that comes into it (its way), it will crush it…,” explained Abu as he spoke with Alhassan Suhuyini.

Describing December 7, 2011 as an obviously significant day for renewal and rededication to the cause of satisfying the aspirations of Ghanaians and to working very hard to ensure that the NPP offers Ghanaians a competent and development oriented alternative.

Asked if the day, 7th December cost him any heartbeats, Jinapor said “In politics when you are going for an election, you have to be conscious of the fact that you either win or lose, and indeed until the last ballot id counted, you cannot really be hundred percent certain at the outcome of the election and just as I’m cautiously optimistic and cautiously confident that our chances are, if for nothing at all, in my estimation brighter than they were in 2008, we are gearing up and getting ready for the elections prepared for either a win or defeat but if you have your ears on the ground as they say, you will be relatively confident that the NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo’s chances for elections 2012 are really, really, really bright.”
