Telecommunications Company, MTN, are set to be named the new sponsors of the Nigeria Premier League in a four-year deal said to be worth around N2.6 billion.

On Thursday, the Nigeria Premier League board announced that it ‘has signed a four-year Title Right Sponsorship with Total Promotions Limited (TPL)’.

Last December, Total Promotions, representing MTN, won a bid for the title sponsorship ahead of former sponsors Globacom.

But the deal failed to see the light of day as Globacom headed to the courts in protest.

That legal tussle stalled a formal signing ceremony, with even the NFF calling for a fresh bid process.

But the NPL dug their heels in, and after fighting out a long battle for its leadership, have now ratified the deal with Total Promotions. Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless handheld from Glo Mobile.
