AFRICAN Life Assurance has donated sports equipment to Prisons volleyball team, which is preparing for East Africa Volleyball Challenge scheduled to take place in Moshi from December 14 to 18.
The tournament will serve as part of activities to mark Tanzania Mainland’s 50th Independence Anniversary as well as commemorating the late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere for his great contribution to the country’s independence.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Dar es Salaam on Friday, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Julius Gabe, said the equipment presented to both male and female outfits include two sets of jerseys and volleyballs.
Prisons Senior Officer, Elizabeth Mbezi, thanked the company for the donation, saying it has come at the right time and would help boost players’ morale.
“We are grateful for the equipments that will help us to compete in the competition excellently. We are well prepared to compete and win the challenge,” she said.
Tanzania Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) has organized the tournament.
