ONIIPA Swapo district executive committee has called for the recall of its constituency councillor, John Shiindi, The Namibian has learnt reliably. The executive committee has made the submission to the Oshikoto Swapo regional coordinator’s office.
Shiindi is accused of non-performance and poor communication with his constituency councillors.
In the letter of complaint to the Oshikoto Swapo regional coordinator, Armas Amukwiyu, the district executive calls for either the suspension or recall of Shiindi.
Oniipa district coordinator Jeremia Ngwena confirmed having written a letter of complaint to Amukwiyu, said that they don’t want to get rid of the councillor, but want him to up his performance and serve the people who elected him into the position.
Amukwiyu said he has received the letter and would forward it to the Swapo headquarters, where Shiindi’s fate would be discussed.
A member of the Oniipa Swapo district executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Shiindi had brought no visible development to the constituency.
Residents, the source said, are not benefiting from the many Government projects in the region.
Shiindi is also accused of having fired members of the Community Development Committee and replacing them with new staff of his choosing.
When approached by The Namibian yesterday, Shiindi denied all the allegations against him, claiming to have heard these for the first time.
The Oniipa Swapo executive has not shared the complaints with him, Shiindi said.
