Two people died and eight others injured in a road accident in Narok North district yesterday. The morning accident occurred at Suswa Trading Centre on the Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway, about 50 kilometres from Narok Town, after a matatu they were travelling in hit a lorry.
Narok Traffic Base Commandant Derrick Nyaga said: “The driver of the 14-seater matatu rammed a moving after losing control of his vehicle. The two women who were front seat died on the spot.”
Nyaga said the other eight passengers received treatment the Narok District Hospital and discharged. The matatu and the lorry were heading to Nairobi from Narok town.
The bodies of the two were taken to the Narok District Hospital mortuary for a postmortem. Nyaga warned drivers and matatu operators against careless driving, especially during this time when Christmas festivities are near. “Any road user who will be caught flouting traffic rules will face the full force of the law,” he said.
