Poland’s formal complaint to the Climate Action Network over its “logo” being used when it won a notoriety award for the “Fossil of the Day” drew howls of laughter at last night’s award at the COP17 UN conference in Durban.
There was more laughter at the hammed-up ceremony when 18-year-old Australian first-year drama student and announcer for the night, Isaac Astill, said Poland also “disassociated” itself from the award.
However, it was no laughing matter when the cool, young and engaged crowd heard that the Canadian ruling party laughed in Parliament at receiving yet another “shame and blame” Fossil award – which Astill said seemed incongruous and unfeeling at time of climate change suffering for millions of people around the globe.
