The 21st Quadrangular Games, that pitched the four foremost clubs in Lagos – Apapa Club, Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Ikoyi Club 1938 and the host, Lagos Country Club – against one another, vying for honours in the championship, will come to an end on Saturday.

According to the Chairman Planning Committee of the games, Akin Soyoye, the championship would be declared closed by Larry Ettah, the Group Managing Director of UAC of Nigeria Plc.

Soyoye lauded UACN for demonstrating its commitment to the growth of recreational sports and family bonding in Nigeria by coming on as the Games sponsor. Such corporate support, he said, would further enhance the promotion of the games’ ideals, which include social and business networking.

He said, “This year’s edition of the championship has lived up to its expectations as all the clubs fielded their best teams who have put up very impressive performances to triumph in the several games.”

Soyoye also commended the participants for their show of sportsmanship and the Local Organising Committee for working assiduously to ensure a successful and exciting championship.

Medals and prizes would be presented during the closing ceremony. The Quadrangular Games is held annually with athletes competing for medals in Tennis, Swimming, Badminton, Snooker, Table Tennis, Chess, Taekwondo, scrabble, squash, Table Tennis and Dart. It has created an avenue for social and business networking, friendship and sportsmanship among the four participating clubs.
