Sunyani (B/A), July 28, GNA – Mr Kwadwo Adjei Darko, former Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, has asked politicians to continue ongoing projects of their predecessors to ensure its completion.

He stressed that “good governance is where a nation has the best of infrastructure and other social amenities for both teachers and students”.

Mr Adjei Darko was addressing the first Open Day celebration of the Wesley Preparatory and Junior High School in Sunyani on Thursday.

The ex-MP advised students not to rely on only what they are taught in school but to also visit the library and use the internet wisely to acquire more knowledge.

He asked parents to make the education of their children their number one priority and to have time with their wards after school “since it’s not the responsibility of only the teacher to teach the children what is morally right”.

Mr Franco Faruk Padmore, Headmaster of the school, in a welcoming address, appealed to parents and past pupils of the school, as well as benevolent individuals to provide the school with supplementary readers for a proposed school library, laptop computers and other relevant teaching and learning materials.

He noted that the interaction between parents and teachers at the open day would enable the former to make well-informed decisions about the academic performance of their wards.

Rev. Philip Obeng Agyei, Brong Ahafo Regional Manager of the Methodist schools, asked the school authorities to reward any teacher whose student would score grade one in his subject in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE.

Some old students of the school presented some items to the school, as well as students who performed well in their various subjects.
