Fulham clung on for a scoreless draw against RNK Split in a clash they had been expected to gain a victory.
A dour first-half had few clear cut chances for the visitor’s and Fulham were fortunate to reach the break still level as Ante Erceg shot wide when through on goal.
Martin Jol’s side started brightly in the second period with a couple of early chances but the host’s restored their dominance and piled on the pressure with Duje Cop missing a gilt edged chance in the closing stages.
The second leg takes place at Craven Cottage next Thursday.
