Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell is close to sealing a move to West Brom, according to reports.

27-year-old Ridgewell is on the verge of signing a three-year contract with the Baggies, according to Sky Sports.

Ridgewell joined the Blues from their rivals Aston Villa in 2007 and has two years left to run on his new contract, signed last summer.

But following Birmingham’s relegation last season the club are prepared to sell.

Ridgewell spent much of last season in the relatively unfamiliar position of left-back, due to the form of fellow central defenders Scott Dann and Roger Johnson, the latter of whom recently signed for Wolves.
