Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he’s not considering sending any of his young players on-loan to a team in the United States.
The United boss admitted he likes to keep an eye on the players he sends away from Old Trafford, something which would be hard to if they were to join an MLS side.
However Ferguson said he had qualms about a players wanting to go to the US if they believed it would benefit their games.
“At the end of the day, that’s something that’s some way off,” Sir Alex told reporters.
“Convincing a young player to go so far away could be a problem. We like to try and keep our players as near to us as possible so we can monitor them.
“I’m not against it, but it would be entirely up to the player himself to decide if he would find it worthwhile. Certainly the standard of the game has risen. There’s no problem with that side of things. It would be a good experience for some of them.”
The Scot also stated he was disappointed with how striker Federico Macheda was utilised by Sampdoria when the Italian was loaned their last season.
“Last year, we put Federico Macheda in Italy and it didn’t turn out well because Sampdoria had relegation trouble and changed their coach. He ended up not playing many games, which was disappointing.
