Solomon Adomako, Branch Secretary for the Kwabre West constituency tells Xfm that executives of the NDC in the district are contributing to the detriment of the party hence their call on them to step down.
According to him, the executives have up to 72 hours to step down. If they fail to do so all 700 members will resign from the NDC.
Adomako who organized a press conference to put forth their grievances also alleged that the Constituency Chairman, Osei Bosie and the area’s district chief executive organized thugs who beat them up and disrupted their press conference.
A member of the NDC in the constituency spoke about their predicament. ‘We are giving them 72 hours to step down other than that we will withdraw our membership from the NDC. The constituency chairman and the DCE organized thugs to come and beat us up and disrupt the press conference. The macho men told us that they were coming from the regional secretariat and the DCE also told one of our chairmen that he will use just five minutes to destroy our program. The way the thing happened, we believe that he was involved.’
‘We don’t need them any more… if we don’t hear anything good from the top; we will resign from the NDC. I received a slap from one of them… they tore up our banners and broke down some of our equipments. They mentioned the name of the regional and constituency chairmen as those who ordered them to do so. They are threatening us to stop what we are doing, but we don’t care what they do. We are waiting for them; we will defend ourselves with our lives. We wouldn’t sit and watch while some people spoil the NDC’s chances in this constituency… if the executives want us to build the chances of the NDC, then they should come sit and talk with us… we want the chairman and the youth organizer to step down… otherwise, we will deal with them,’
However, the constituency chairman has rebuffed their threats. Speaking on The Big Bite Monday, Osei Bosie laughed off the call on them to resign, adding, ‘I know where they are coming from.’
He challenged anybody who doubts his competence to report him to the regional executives.
‘It’s never true; when they organized the press conference, I was in Kumasi and I heard that they claimed I had brought some macho men. I have never ordered any people to go beat them up.
I am not going to resign… we have party structures, when you level any accusation against someone, you send it to the regional office, they will call us to see if what you are saying is true or not. This is what I know.’
