Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool paid their respects to the victims of the recent attacks in Norway in the club’s pre-season friendly against Hull City at the KC Stadium.

The club sported black armbands as a mark of respect in a 3-0 defeat courtesy of goals by Robert Brady, Robert Koren and Jay Simpson.

Writing on his Twitter account manager Dalglish explained why the players were wearing black earlier on Saturday.

“We will be wearing Black Arm bands today against Hull City as a mark of respect for the people of Norway,” he wrote.

The two sides also completed a minute’s applause before the game in tribute to the victims of the terror attacks which was impeccably observed by both sets of fans.

New signing from Roma Alexander Doni began the game in goal for the Reds but fellow newboys Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson had to make do with a place on the bench, with both players appearing in the second half.
