Liverpool forward Daniel Pacheco has told the club to play him or let him leave after struggling to make an impact at Anfield.

The Spaniard has only made 14 appearances for Liverpool since signing from Barcelona in 2007 and spent last season on loan at Norwich City, which ended in promotion for the Canaries.

He is currently at the Under-20 World Cup in Columbia, but said that if he was continued to be overlooked by boss Kenny Dalglish then he would have to move elsewhere.

“I hoped for a lot more. Why should I deny it? I was at a good level and at the club they told I was going to have opportunities,” he told Diaro Sur.

“Logically it’s a disappointment to see that you don’t have any playing time. But in such a situation all you can do is work and I hope to have minutes in the Under-20 World Cup to demonstrate what I’m worth.

“Quite simply, if they don’t give me more opportunities, I am very clear that I want to leave. Above all, I want to play and if I have to leave to do that then there will be no problem.”

Pacheco is originally from Malaga, a club who have received foreign investment from Qatar and have signed players of the calibre of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Joaquin, signalling their intent for next season.

The Spaniard admitted that there had been some interest from the club, but added that nothing could be agreed between them and his current employers.

“If I’m honest, I don’t know much about posible Malaga interest,” said the 20-year-old.

“A woman who worked at Malaga ex-managing director Yasmin Al Sahoud got in contact with Liverpool to inform that Malaga wanted to buy me, but Liverpool didn’t contemplate a transfer, only a loan. Nothing more.

“Some day I would like to return home. At the moment it hasn’t happened. If it happens, it happens.”

Pacheco had a successful loan spell at Norwich last season where he scored two goals in six appearances.

He has previously said that he might be interested in re-joining the Canaries now that they are in the Premier League and when queried again, he refused to rule anything out as he had enjoyed his spell there so much.

“It was very special. I still remember it and I will always remember it,” he said.

“You have to remember that it’s a team that came up from the third division and suddenly had a chance to get to the Premier League.

“What I lived there was precious and I have become very fond of the club and their fans. It’s another option for the future and I’ll have to assess it.”
