Deputy registrar Pharmacy and Poisons board Dr Fred Siyoi said that irresponsible pharmacists selling fake products are a threat to achievement of good health. The chief pharmacist sent a strong warning to pharmacists operating unlicensed businesses to get registered. He also warned anyone who is selling counterfeit drug.
He said that there is an urgent need for every player in the sector to work towards achieving a health nation and this can be achieved if only licensed pharmaceuticals are operating. “We need every Kenyans to live a health life and this can be achieved if proper operations are carried in this sector. He advised the public to ensure that they get medicine from licensed outlets and should report if the medicine they were sold is not genuine through pink forms which are found in the website. He says the Pharmacy and Poisons Board has set up an elaborate system for evaluating quality of drugs before and after registration for sale in Kenya.
