Katlego Mphela is on the verge of a European move after he was invited for trials by Scottish giants Celtic.

Barely a year ago, the striker was linked with a move to Celtic’s perennial rivals, Rangers, but nothing came of it. This time, though, Mphela could finally earn his move as he has been invited for trials at Celtic, commencing on July 25, according to his agent, Glyn Binkin.

According to KickOff.com, Sundowns will be willing to accept a R17 million (£1.5m) offer for their star striker, but firstly Mphela has to convince Celtic he has the firepower during a trial towards the end of this month.

“We have received an invitation from Celtic [for a trial] and Sundowns have agreed to let him go,” Binkin confirmed.

He added: “He is a very good player and if given an opportunity to play abroad he will be able to showcase what he is capable of.”
