Minna — Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu yesterday said his government has no hand in the arrest and arraignment of Senator Ibrahim Musa of the Congress For Progressive Change (CPC).
The senator representing Niger North was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Minna for alleged forgery.
Aliyu debunked speculations that the Niger State government might have set up the arrest and subsequent arraignment, saying when the whole saga took place, he was not in the country.
The governor who made the statement while interacting with some top political office holders, said the constitution was clear on the role of elected officers, and that there was no rift between him and the senator.
“I am educated and knowledgeable enough to know the role of everybody, and the constitution is very clear on the role of every elected officer,” he added.
Aliyu, who commended the senators representing the state for a job well done, wondered what was responsible for the speculation.
He appealed to senators representing the state to put aside political differences and work towards the development of the state and Nigeria at large.
Senator Ibrahim Musa was last week arraigned before Magistrate Court V in Minna, where the court ordered that he should be remanded in prison. He was in prison for four days before he was released on bail last Friday.
