‘MIGHTY’ Mufulira Wanderers have reclaimed top slot in the MTN Division One north from Indeni to lead by one point after defeating Chindwin Sentries 1-3 in a week 17 match played in Ndola at the weekend.
Wanderers, who now have 32 points having been awarded three points from a week 16 match which Bresmar United of Solwezi failed to fulfil, scored all three goals in the first half through a brace by Humphrey Chandila and another goal by Harrison Kaonga.
Indeni were held 1-1 at home by relegation fighting Luanshya United who have 15 points while Prison Leopards moved to 29 points from fifth to third position after defeating Mufulira Blackpool 1-2 at John Yumba Kachofa Stadium in Mufulira.
Blackpool made a false start scoring first in the 20th minute but Leopards replied with a goal by Webber Mwape on 37 minutes before sealing victory in the 60th minute through Benjamin Simpembe.
Elsewhere, Kitwe United defeated Mining Rangers 1-0 in a derby at Garden Park Stadium where former junior international striker Ezzy Lundu scored the all-important goal in the 55th minute.
There was no change at the other end of the table despite rock bottom Kabwe Academy defeating Ndola United in Kabwe 1-0 to move to 13 points and second from bottom Lusaka Dynamos recording a 0-2 away win against Chambishi to increase their points tally to 14.
Also on 14 points is Kalulushi Modern Stars who forced a barren draw at Nkwiza in Kitwe while the match between Bresmar and Zesco Luapula was postponed because the latter asked for time to organise enough resources to travel to Solwezi.
