Dar es Salaam — Azam FC head coach Stewart Hall believes that shot-toppers Obren Cirkovic and Mwadin Ally are the long-term solution to the ice-cream makers’ goalkeeping problem.

The British tactician identified goalkeeping as an area that failed them last season and voiced optimism that the 2011/12 Premier League is Azam’s to lose. “Goalkeeping was one of our Achilles heel last season because we conceded many simple goals.

“But I believe the arrival of the duo will solve our goalkeeping problem and the title is now ours to lose,” said the coach.

Azam missed a chance to represent the country in Caf organised championships after finishing behind champions Young Africans and Simba.

The ice-cream makers bolstered their squad with the Serb goalie who once played for Young Africans and Ally from Zanzibar.

Their arrival meant former custodians Jackson Chove and Burundi’s Vladimir Niyonkuru had no place.

For his part, Ally was confident that Azam would contend genuinely for the league title. “Azam are a serious club and I’m expecting nothing short of the title this year. We’ve a very strong squad,” he said.
