Kampala — A collective effort from national stars got record champions Tornado off the bottom of the Division I National Cricket League log as they brushed aside Nile by 72 runs at Lugogo oval on Sunday. Benjamin Musoke (80), Lawrence Ssematimba (71) and Frank Nsubuga (64), all core members of the senior men’s side, notched half centuries as Tornado set an imposing target of 283 for the loss of eight wickets.
Nile, who were seeking their third win of the campaign, never got anywhere close to the asking rate despite contributions from Abraham Oduch (22) and Martin Ondeko (22).
U-19 skipper Brian Masaba, who made his senior debut during the just concluded Africa Division I T20 event, was however in no mood to leave with his tail between the legs. On top of claiming 2 for 36, Masaba scored 58 to help Nile reach 211.
Roger Mukasa, too, hit 41 as Patidar Samaj reached 102 runs to steer home by six wickets. Emmanuel Isaneez picked six wickets to bundle out Rounders for 100.
