Arsenal attacker Andrey Arshavin says he is enjoying his best pre-season yet for the north London outfit after putting in a solid display in a comfortable friendly win.
The Gunners began their pre-season with a successful 4-0 win over Malaysia Xi on Wednesday, with Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott were among the names on the scoresheet.
Arshavin made his own contribution to the final outcome, assisting Tomas Rosicky for Arsenal’s final goal in the last minute of the game, and he feels the players are benefiting from their Asian tour.
“Normally pre-season is the toughest time of the year for every player,” Arshavin told the club’s website. “But I think a trip like we are doing at the moment is really good for everyone – for players, for staff, for fans, for the whole club.
“That’s why I’m happy that Arsenal are doing something like this for the first time since Arsene Wenger joined Arsenal.
“Maybe for preparation it’s different because we are travelling a lot and there is no time to train twice a day, like we would do normally. But for the players it’s better, because we are not based in just one place and only training.
“Out here we have had the chance to travel, meet different people, see the reaction from the fans, and see a different culture. For players, that’s really good.”
