The Federal Government has been commended for revitalising adult and youth literacy. Mr. Fred Okonta, a renowned chartered accountant, gave the commendation in Abuja yesterday at a strategic performance workshop for staff of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-formal Education.
He applauded government’s production and development of primers in some Nigerian languages and the review of basic and post-literacy curricula.
“These achievements among others earned the country the right to chair the E-9 secretariat on the revitalisation of adult and literacy education for next year,” he noted, while observing the qualities of the acting executive secretary of the commission.
The workshop which was designed to enhance the technical capacity of staff was organised by the commission in collaboration with a leading human resource development consulting group, Froke consulting.
