Several Flying Eagles players have sustained various degrees of injuries that may give coach John Obuh grey heirs in his bit to select his team for the FIFA U-20 World Cup kicking off in Colombia next week.
Obuh is expected to name his team on Friday. However many of the players have been injured with the team now in a fix.
Egbedi Edafe injured his right hand in the friendly against Portugal, while goalkeeper Gambo sustained an ankle injury and had to be replaced by Danjuma Paul in the 77th minute.
Belgium-based defender Jamiu Alimi also aggravated his thigh strain during warm-up and he is very much out of reckoning for a place in the final 21-man squad to be announced Friday.
In Panama, a Four-Nation tournament awaits, with the first game against host Panama on Monday, and matches against Portugal and Mexico to come on Wednesday and Friday next week respectively.
Nigeria’s hopefuls will fly direct to Armenia, venue of their first two matches of Group D, on July 24. They play their first FIFA U-20 World Cup match against Guatemala on July 31.
