Former Gambia U-20 starlet Saja Leigh has completed a move to Scandinavia in Finland, Foroyaa Sports can reveal. The Africell defender-cum-midfielder put-pen-to-paper on a one year deal with an option to extend with Finnish club KTP after many failed attempts to sign with big European clubs.
Saja who was part of Gambia’s U-17 successful team that beat Brazil in the youth World Cup in 2005 in Peru, is among KTP’s new signing following an impressive trial.
The 23-year-old was loaned out to Stade De Mali by Sait Matty- Africel in 2007. When his deal with the Malian giants ended. Saja returned and stayed for half a season with the GFA league outfit Africell before heading to Europe. At last he has ended a long spell out of the game with a deal with Finnish third division club KTP.
KTP is in the relegation zone on ten points in twelve matches. Leigh could still move if things stand still with his club as he has only a single season to honour his contract with an option to extend.
Prior to his signing, the ex-U-17 marksman had a series of trials. Among the teams he tried out with are: Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls and Karlslund HFK.
