The Barclays Premier League tour will come to Hong Kong Stadium on July 27 and 30, where Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly will open the exhibition to the public on July 28.

The exhibition will run alongside the Barclays Asia Trophy, which runs from from July 28 to 31, and features Premier League clubs Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea and Aston Villa, as well as Hong Kong First Division champions Kitchee.

Barclays ambassador Desailly said: “Football fans in Hong Kong are in for a real treat come the end of July.

“Not only can they see live football with Barclays Premier League teams in action but they will be able to see the famous trophy up close at the Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour.

“The fans get to see what the league is all about, understand some of the history and experience the famous atmosphere created at live matches. I look forward to meeting fans down at the tour.”

The exhibition will allow fans to interact with the official Barclays Premier League torphy, and will feature a replica centre circle and ‘The Changing Room’, where special exhibits such as trying on keeper gloves, running faster than Theo Walcott and kicking a ball harder than Obafemi Martins will be available.

The tours last 30 minutes and visitors will be given the chance to take home a 3D green screen photo of them holding a virtual Premier League trophy.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: “We are excited about joining long-term partners Barclays in bringing the Trophy Tour to Asia for the first time.

“We have three Barclays Premier League teams with us, but with the Trophy Tour we want to show our fans in Hong Kong even more of what is at the heart of our competition: the Trophy itself, as that is what every player and manager competes to get their hands on; the fantastic football as played by our 20 clubs, because that is what excites hundreds of millions week-in week-out; and the history and tradition of English football, as that is what helps create the huge interest in the competition.”
