IT is exactly 17 days before we get to see which two souls walk off with this year’s $200,000 (sh56m) Big Brother Africa bounty. We have 13 house mates left in the run for the money, and just two more weekends of evictions.
Remember, our own Sharon is safe this week, so she only has next week’s eviction to survive to the final day. Now, as the possibility of winning the money becomes more real to the housemates, the show is becoming something of a worthy climax to catch.
While others are claiming to be themselves and just playing the game as they did a few weeks ago, the sure thing is that every one of the last 13 standing is working out a strategy in one way or the other.
And it is made all better as the housemates get freaked out in the process. The fact that they are expressing themselves in the weirdest of ways betrays their nerves all perfectly.
Conspiracies, paranoia and backstabbing are getting to the highest they have ever been. More than ever, Vimbai has taken to confiding in her imaginary friend, Prada, while also turning more to her countryman Wendall whom she saved off the nomination list to put up Mumba.
Then most of the housemates have resorted to using alcohol more, clearly to ward off the stress and tension. Kim and Sharon O have already been accused by Lomwe and Vina of using alcohol for comfort, while Karen too has resorted to infinite use of alcohol.
The housemates have also decided to have naps in the evening – perhaps to ward off the stress. And those put up for possible eviction this week have not taken it in lightly as others before.
On Tuesday evening Sharon O spoke about how some housemates had started freaking out. She singled out Bernadina. But while it is easy for one to use her as an example, what the girls didn’t realise was merely the fact that they were discussing nominations and the looming eviction was freaking them out.
Wendall and Vimbai took the whole thing to another level on Monday morning; dissecting the show to the last man/woman standing. They made their thoughts public on who was likely to nominate who and who was likely to be in the final show.
The one thing that is bothering the housemates is the question; “How many people will be in the house on the final week?” Only Big Brother has that answer.
