Karang Ansumana Sanneh, who was removed as the head chief of Kiang East District in the Lower River Region, has been reinstated to his position.

Chief Sanneh was removed from this position sometime last year after he and three others were charged with stealing the funds of the Village Development Committee (VDC) of Kaiaf and dragged to court at Mansakonko. The accused persons were later discharged by the Mansa Konko Magistrate Court.

When Sanneh was removed from his position in 2010, Alhaji Jarjusey of Kolior was appointed as chief of the district.

The Governor of Lower River Region, Lamin Waa Juwara, confirmed the reinstatement of Karang Ansumana Sanneh as chief, adding that he had received a fax from the Ministry of Local Government and Lands authorizing the said reinstatement.

He said Chief Sanneh was reinstated on the 27 June 2011.

Governor Juwara called on the people of Kiang East to maintain peace among them.
