Lobi Stars Tony Okpotu and member of the Team of-the-week in the Nigerian Premier League, has made it clear that he will score goals which will get continental ticket for his Makurdi side.
Speaking from the team’s base in Makurdi after training during the week, Okpotu told Inside Out Premier League that the goal he scored against Crown FC in Ilaro a fortnight ago, which gave Lobi its first away win, has broken his goal draught and opened his magic box of goals.
“It is a thing of great joy scoring again for the team and smile away with three points. It has been long I scored for the team, so when I scored that goal against Crown, I felt it is time for us to clinch the three points. We have been trying our best to get an away victory since the commencement of the league and we got it against Crown two weeks ago.
“I am praying that I score more goals in the league that will take Lobi Stars into the continent next season. As a team, we are working towards a continental slot. For me, I am ensuring that this vision of continental ticket is achieved by me scoring goals, “Okpotu said.
On the team’s impressive games that have caused its upward climb on the NPL log, Okpotu said, “I am elated by our form, when we started, we were in the 15th position, but now, we are in the 8th position and hope to finish among the top three.” He added.
