Official: West Brom’s Scott Carson completes move to Bursaspor

England international Scott Carson has completed his move to Turkish side Bursaspor for an undisclosed fee from West Brom.

Carson spent three years at The Hawthorns, making 118 appearances, after moving to the Baggies from Liverpool.

In 2009, he was awarded the captain’s armband by Roberto Di Matteo, replacing Jonathan Greening after he left to join Fulham.

However, he lost the armband last season to Chris Brunt, but helped guide the Baggies to their highest ever Premier League finish of 11th.

Albion head coach Roy Hodgson told the club’s official website: “In the three months I worked with Scott I cannot fault his professionalism and dedication.

“He has been a good servant to the club and I would like to wish him all the best for the future as he looks to broaden his experience by playing in a foreign country.”

Baggies sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth added: “I would like to thank Scott for his efforts and contribution to the last three seasons.

“After the disappointment of being relegated from the Barclays Premier League he played a significant part in our last two successful seasons.

“It is a good opportunity for Scott to go to Turkey and on behalf of everyone at the football club I would like to wish him well in his future career.”
