Camair-Co On Good Footing

In order to be efficient in competition, Cameroon Airlines Corporation, Camair-Co, has planned to open up new regional and international routes. To do this the national carrier has begun negotiations with Boeing to acquire on lease one of its newest fleet 777 begin flights from Douala to China and Dubai, disclosed Deputy General Manager, Emmanuel Mbozo’o, during a news conference at the corporation’s office in Akwa, Douala, Tuesday. Meanwhile lease plane Boeing 737 that arrived Douala a few weeks ago is scheduled to start exploiting new routes from Cameroon to Libreville, Lagos, Cotonou, Dakar, Malabo, Brazzaville, Bangui between August 15 and October 18.

It will begin with exploitation to ensure that before flying to these destinations passengers would have already acquired their tickets so as to avoid previous errors of flying back empty.

The routes will help to bring in more passengers to filling Camair-Co aircrafts flying from Douala to Paris and begin flights to China and Dubai. “Our planes are never empty as popular opinion holds. Rather we have fled passengers of other airlines companies whose flights were cancelled.”

Among the many innovations, it was revealed that passengers travelling to Paris can register between 1-4 p.m. and their luggage loaded before they come back at takeoff time. Not long from now passengers will no longer necessarily go to a commercial centre for tickets but register online.

Also, promotional campaigns such as involving local, regional and international fares are periodically organised to encourage passenger influx and patronage while “Made in Cameroon” products are being sold on board in part to promote the image of the country, Emmanuel Mbozo’o explained.

Short documentaries such as of zoos, National Parks, among others are new features to be shown on board in the nearest future in a bid to encourage tourism in the country. Newscasts by national radio Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV, will soon be listened to ones on board Camair-Co planes.

The Ministry of Finance was also said to have honoured its engagement by completing its own quota of funds for 2010âà-2011. The boost falls in line with Government’s commitment to help in the sustainability of the new national carrier. The corporation counts 427 personnel including newly recruited workers who are expected to possibly replace staff at expiration of contracts.
