South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya has denied that he has joined ODM. “Many people may interpret Sunday’s function where I hosted the PM in my home and constituency as moving to ODM but that is not true,” said the MP who has confirmed he will not defend his seat on a Ford People ticket. “In Parliament I’m a Ford People MP until the 2012 elections and if my constituents want me to join ODM I will do it and if they don’t want I will not join the party,” he said.
In a telephone interview with the Star, the MP reiterated that he will support and vote for the Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the 2012 elections. “I’m behind the Prime Minister and will give him my vote that one is very clear in my mind,” he said.
He told ODM activist Gideon Moreka and aspirants Henry Ogeto and Kepher Marube not to drag his name into party matters. “Currently I’m not in ODM and they should not drag my name into their affairs,” he added.
Several MPs who attended Sunday’s rally at Nyamarambe praised Nyamweya’s development record and asked him to work closely with ODM, with some suggesting he should be appointed to Cabinet.
