Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala would welcome Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, according to their head coach.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a transfer from White Hart Lane and Gadzhi Gadzhiev admitted it would be great if the side could sign players of the Russian international’s quality this summer.

However, he did stress that no actual agreement to bring the striker from White Hart Lane was currently in place.

“I do not know about any specific arrangements with Pavlyuchenko. But if the player of such a level wants to play for our club, we’ll all be happy,” Gadzhiev is quoted as saying by sports.ru.

Pavlyuchenko has been rumoured to be reviewing his options and a move back to his home country is considered likely.

The former Spartak Moscow striker first played for Russia’s national side in 2003 and has been an ever present for his country since 2005.

He scored his first international hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Armenia for Euro 2012 qualification on June 4.

The Russian side are also rumoured to have tabled a bid that meets the minimum release fee for Brazilian star Neymar, and the youngster could link up with his compatriot Roberto Carlos if he agrees to a move.
