During a meeting with Prince Andrew at Buckingham Palace last week, President Hifikepunye Pohamba invited the Duke of York for a visit to Namibia.
According to the director in the office of the President, Ben Nangombe, Prince Andrew “gladly accepted” the invitation.
During the session with Prince Andrew, President Pohamba had “wide-ranging discussions covering trade issues between Britain and Namibia, education, health, agriculture, tourism and infrastructure development”.
Prince Andrew is reported to have undertaken “to work hard in engaging the private sector to interest them in assisting Namibia to address the challenges in the health and education sectors, some of which are inherited legacies of apartheid”.
Nangombe said Prince Andrew promised to appeal to the British private sector “to consider investment opportunities in Namibia, including infrastructure development”.
Meanwhile, rumours that Prince William and his wife, Catherine, have secretly entered Namibia appear to be untrue. The couple were seen on Sky News attending an armed forces event at Windsor over the weekend.
