Nakaseke — Greater Luweero stands a higher chance of becoming the country’s success story in development programmes if leaders embrace the spirit of team-work in implementing government programmes, the Vice President, Mr Edward Ssekandi, has said.
While addressing residents of Nakaseke at a thanksgiving ceremony organised by Gender and Social Affairs Minister Syda Bbumba at Kiwoko Sports ground on Sunday, the Vice President said greater Luweero has all reasons to thank the President for the seven ministers recently appointed from the region, to help realise development as they serve the country.
“You are blessed to have seven ministers in this greater Luweero region. The challenge now is for you to embrace team-work and implement government programmes to improve the people’s livelihood,” Mr Ssekandi told the MPs and district officials at the function in Nakaseke.
He said President Museveni’s appointment of the seven ministers from the region was well intended.
Nakaseke District leaders, through the district chairman represented by Mr Richard Mavuma, said the district has continued to perform poorly in the health sector with the biggest health facility, Nakaseke Hospital neglected.
“Nakaseke Hospital has dilapidated buildings, and no ambulance, among other facilities. The people of Nakaseke partly vote in the way they do as a protest against government’s neglect of the hospital. We hope that this time the facility will be renovated,” Mr Mavuma told the Vice President.
