Youth Blame District Council for Imposing Development Projects

Youth from ten wards in the Kibaha District Council have said that meetings for planning development projects at village, street and ward levels were not serious.

Speaking during the sixth youth forum, they noted that people at the grassroots are asked to come up with development plans while the district council has already decided on the projects that would be implemented.

During the forum organised by Youth Partnership Countrywide (YPC), many young people claimed that they have been participating in such meetings, but they noticed that the projects brought for implementation were different from those they picked in their meetings.

When they ask their village leaders, they are ignored and told to stop questioning as the council has powers to approve development projects.

Ms Veronika Michael, Mr Hamis Sanga and Mr George Bundi, thanked CSOs for educating them on various issues concerning development projects.
