Kampala — Bunnamwaya join a stage they have never been to today when they face Somalia’s Elman in the regional Cecafa Kagame Cup.
Coach Edward Golola could not have asked for an easier game for last year’s Super League champions to kick-off their group B campaign in Tanzania. However, nothing has been straight in the preparations due to the postponement of the Uganda U-23s clash with Kenya to yesterday.
A water logged pitch kept defenders Ayub Kisalita, Habib Kavuma and midfielders Owen Kasule and Mike Mutyaba, away in Nairobi longer than Bunnamwaya would have wanted. This particular game against Elman was to be played yesterday. “It (game postponement) is an advantage to us because we shall have our players back in time,” Golola said.
The privilege of taking a rest was taken away for this thin squad already depleted by the sale of Saddam Juma, Ceaser Okhuti and Hakim Ssenkumba to Vietnam. Godfrey Walusimbi is in Sweden making the return of Kizito Luwagga timely.
