According to skysports.com, the Potters’ substantial offer for the duo was rebuffed by Birmingham, with the relegated club determined to recoup more for the pair.

Birmingham are likely to consider any increased offer as they go about selling some of their valuable assets to balance the books following their demotion from the Premier League.

Stoke are one of a number of clubs thought to be keen on signing centre-back Dann, who is also said to be attracting interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa.

Potters boss Tony Pulis is believed to be keen on bringing in Jerome to provide competition up front for Kenwyne Jones, Jonathan Walters and Ricardo Fuller.

The FA Cup runners-up are expected to table another bid for the pair to beef up their squad ahead of their European campaign.
