Kenya: Mbogo’s Next Target is Nairobi International Marathon

Daniel Mbogo who clocked 2:18.42 to win the 12th edition of the Lewa Safaricom marathon at the Lewa Conservancy in Samburu over the weekend. is now targeting the Nairobi international marathon in October. “My goal now is to win the StanChart Marathon tin October,” said Mbogo who took home a Sh150, 000 cash prize and a 32″ LCD TV for his exploits in Lewa.

He was followed by Ndoria who clocked 2:21.24 to walk away with Sh80, 000 and a Samsung Notebook N150 laptop while Benson Korir who returned 2:22.39 took home Sh60, 000 and a Samsung Galaxy mini tab. Vincent Kibet and Benson Kaptikor finished fourth and fifth in 2:22.46 and 2:23.45 to win Sh40, 000 and Sh20, 000 respectively. Monica Muthoni took the ladies title in 2:49.2 to also win the Sh150, 000 cash prize award and a 32″ LCD TV.

Johana Manyim took the half marathon title after clocking 1:05.43 to win the Sh50, 000 cash award. Mark Langupae was second in 1:06.13 followed by Victor Wachira in 1:06.18, Alex Mureithi and Patrick Koskei in 1:06.30 and 1:07.06 respectively. In the women’s edition former junior national champion Pauline Korikwiang fell to Perenis Lekapana, who clocked 1:20.23 to win the Sh50,000 on offer. Korikwiang clocked 1:21.31 to bag Sh25, 000.
