Luanda — The President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor, José Manuel Ramos-Horta, arrived on Monday at 12h15 in the National Assembly, where an extraordinary solemn session, in the ambit of his four-day visit to Angola, aimed at strengthening the co-operation between both countries.
The Timorese Head of State was welcomed by the Speaker of the Angolan parliament, António Paulo Kassoma, and he passed the reviewing stand of the Guard of Honour.
Timorese statesman was saluted with drum sound by the percussion group “Celamar”.
José Ramos Horta learnt about the maquette of the new building of the National Assembly and pace of the construction works that started in October 2010.
José Manuel Ramos-Horta was born in Dili on 26 December in 1949 and he is in power since 20 May 2007.
East Timor is a member state of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), together with Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozaambique, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe.
