IBADAN – OYO State Police Command yesterday confirmed the arrest of four wanted members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in the state.
According to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Baba Adisa Bolanta, the four union members were arrested at the Iwo road interchange where the last bloody clash that led to the death of scores of people took place.
The CP narrated how one of the kingpins who has been declared wanted by the police narrowly escaped arrest.
Bolanta said Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi aka Auxiliary, who was declared wanted alongside his counterpart, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola aka Tokyo, was seen at Iwo road but vanished immediately he suspected that policemen were on his trail.
Though, he refused to disclose the names of the four suspects arrested for security reasons, he was optimistic that they would give useful information that would lead to the arrest of their leader, Auxiliary.
Bolanta vowed that no matter what happened, he would make sure that the two union leaders believed to have been involved in the orgy of violence in the state were arrested.
