Roma have insisted the £13.3 million price tag placed on Arsenal target Ricky Alvarez is too steep.
Reports in Italy have suggested Inter have also entered the running for the Velez Sarsfield midfielder but their fellow Serie A side have revealed they are no reluctant to sign the 23-year-old because of his inflated valuation.
“There is a pre-agreement with Alvarez, but to sign him for €15m would be a mistake because players must be signed for the right price,” Roma director Walter Sabatini told La Repubblica.
The Argentine midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal after establishing himself as one of the most sought-after players in his native country.
Velez Sarsfield sporting director Christian Basseda recently indicated the club will not stand in the way of a transfer, as they want the the player to further his career and hinted that London would be the player’s destination.
