Kano – Kano State Government is planning to boost the production of fish, cassava and moringa to enhance food security in the State, Gov. Rab’iu Kwankwaso, has said.
Kwankwaso, who disclosed this on Saturday in Kano, while swearing-in his Special Advisers at the Government House, said that the project was part of the administration’s desire to boost agriculture in the State.
He said that the State’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environment had already embarked on new policy frameworks aimed at actualising the programme.
The governor said that some local governments would be selected for the implementation of the scheme, adding that the initiative would be pursued with vigour.
According to him, the programme will not only enhance food production, it will also boost the income of the growers.
“People will be coming from all walks of life to buy these produce from our farmers, thereby, enhancing their economic status,’’ he said.
Kwankwaso, however, urged the newly appointed Special Advisers to justify the confidence the administration reposed in them and to work with the fear of God in the discharge of their duties.
The 20 Special Advisers were sworn in, including two on Food Security. (NAN)
