Monaco president Etienne Franzi says he won’t stand in the way of Park Chu-Young‘s desire to move to a club “capable of competing in the Uefa Champions League”.

The 25-year-old Korea international skipper has publicly stated he wants to leave Monaco following their relegation from Ligue 1.

Franzi told French media in an interview this week that he would not hinder Park’s efforts to find a new club given his commitment to Monaco, whom he joined in 2008.

The Red and Whites’ president also hinted that he expected Park to leave, when he told l’Observateur de Monaco: “In broad terms, we know what we need. For example, with the departure of Park, we need a centre forward. And a good number 10, to power us.”

Park has been linked with a host of clubs including English duo Liverpool and Bolton, French trio Paris Saint-Germain, Lille and Rennes and Turkish runners-up Trabzonspor.

The Taeguek Warriors’ skipper scored 12 goals during the 2010-11 season for Monaco despite the club’s relegation.
