West Ham defender Winston Reid has sent a plea to manager Sam Allardyce to allow him to continue plying his trade at Upton Park and not be sold or loaned out.
The New Zealand international signed for the Hammers from the Danish side Midtjylland after shining in the 2010 World Cup, but had a miserable debut season as he saw his side relegated from the Premier League.
Speculation has mounted regarding the defender’s future with Allardyce looking to sell or loan him out of Upton Park.
Reid said according to the Daily Mirror: “I want to stay. We have a job to do – getting West Ham back into the Premier League.
“I have not spoken to the new manager but I don’t think I will be loaned out or sold.”
Reid only made three appearances under Avram Grant after suffering from an injury and then failing to cement any first-team football.
His last appearance for West Ham was the 5-1 FA Cup victory over Burnley in February where he scored his only goal of the season.
